19th Century French Oil Painting
Dimensions: 10 7/8″H x 14 1/2″W x 1/8″D
A lovely depiction of French maritime life at the end of the 19th century. This work is of a canal that is lined with ocean-going hybrid steam / sail powered ships. This was a time when seaports were bustling: transporting goods and people across the Atlantic and beyond. Before aviation, ocean-going vessels were the only way to move goods on a global scale. Oil on wood board. c.1890.
